Chronology of what was authored in the year 2002
From concept to consumption, what's your role?
For instance, between 2000 and 2002, I spent significant time with people creating and consuming media of various forms. On the surface, the only common element is the inherently visual nature.
Their authorship manifests itself onto various forms. Many consider themselves filmmakers. Most of those today use video instead of celluoid. Then there are the illustrators and animators...
After spending significant time with these people, a single question keeps surfacing to students, wannabes and even those in the field already:
What's the most important aspect of the craft?
The answer is simple but the explanation is significant.
Holding a sign that reads, "Will admin Solaris for food," with Empire State Building in background, I was invited for a job interview.
But alas, this was just a publicity stunt.
There is a problem for those relying upon the classic style three button mouse.
The bottom line: get a newer 4-5 button mouse with a driver supporting button remapping, reprogramming, etc.
Configuration procedures are given below for one particular model, but the idea should apply to other vendors' products as well.
The 5 button IntelliMouse Optical model works great with Softimage XSI and Blender 3D, both of which rely heavily on use of all three classic mouse buttons. Best of all, this model maintains full functionality even with remapping.
Well respected radio mime calls it quits.
While this might seem like a tragic turn of events in the zanier parts of town, there is an upside.
History repeats itself in strange ways. Understanding this, I'd like to make a prediction. In the near future, DV camera makers will expand their offerings into more than just the cost-versus-performance spectrum.
We'll start seeing cameras with pluggable modules for customization, single-chip cameras encoding to HD, loss-less codecs and more.
Here are observations on parallels between the DV world and my past careers.
